The Refuge

SWAP

Save Waste and Prosper’ (SWAP) is a scheme, whereby paint is recycled. This scheme is also run by Law, Leisure and Learning. SWAP is run for the benefit of those organisations and individuals in need. Surplus and damaged paint is gifted to LLL from the retailer, trade and business sector. Companies included in this scheme are B&Q, Tesco and Dulux. This paint is then sorted, stored and re-distributed to other local charities and organisations, such as churches, community centres, schools and families. SWAP helps to protect our environment by reusing a valuable source, keeping paint out of landfill, thus reducing carbon emissions.

Clothes Bank

The ‘Clothes Bank’ is also another source of help that has managed to benefit the community hugely. The clothes bank is there to help anyone who needs it. Huge amounts of clothing branded ‘F&F’ are gifted to Law Leisure and Learning by Tesco, with the purpose of distributing to individuals and families who need, or otherwise would not be able to afford new clothing. The clothing comes in numerous sizes, for women, men, children and babies, and there is always something there for everyone. Although there is clothing for all occasions, with the cost of a school uniform for one child being quite expensive, parents have really benefited from the school uniform available at the clothes bank
